Five years ago we bought an old house in San Francisco with a fig tree. We tore the walls down but kept the tree. Months turned into years - very cold years - but we are finally putting the house back together. Thanks for visiting.

Favorite Artwork From Serena & Lily

Favorite Artwork From Serena & Lily

Happy Saturday to you! I’ve been obsessing over wall galleries lately so I chose a few of my favorite artworks offered by Serena & Lily to throw together. I think repeating the cream and orange tones helps pull this selection together – even the birch colored framed on the seaweed print helps with the theme....
Wall-Mounted Succulent Letter DIY

Wall-Mounted Succulent Letter DIY

Hello there! I hope you’re staying warm wherever you may be. The US is experiencing a frigid Winter. I only feel a little bit guilty that it’s in the 60s here in San Francisco and I’ve been in the garden all week. I’m cheating a bit with the name of this project. It can only...
$10 DIY One Hour Upcycled Firepit

$10 DIY One Hour Upcycled Firepit

Happy weekend to you. Yesterday Joe and I wanted to do a fun and quick project for the house. We thought a firepit would be fun but didn’t like the looks of the ones sold at Home Depot and this geometric firepit at DWR is out of our budget. Eventually, Joe will design his own...
Choosing Bath Tile

Choosing Bath Tile

We are finally home! …and I haven’t posted in a long while – eek!  The renovation was pretty overwhelming for us. Not only are renovations rather stressful financially and for a million other reasons but we were really surprised how often I needed to be at the house helping to follow-up on problems that Joe...
progress this week

progress this week

Here are a few recent images to catch you up on our progress. See the descriptions below. This architectural glu-lam beam will be exposed in our kitchen. It marks the transition from ~11 foot ceiling at the entrance to ~8.5 foot ceilings to the living room (despite it being one big room). I really want...
morning coffee & grocery

morning coffee & grocery

As you know we’ve been living in the Mission during our renovation project. While I love this little adventure of experiencing a new neighborhood (especially all the flat streets and gallery openings) I am missing our neighborhood just a bit. It’s silly because we’re surrounded by great coffee and restaurants here in the Mission. We’re...
old images

old images

While cleaning up the blog I have been stumbling upon some old images from the first time we tore some walls down. I love the look of these images – all shot on film. This was forever ago. We will have some new construction images going up soon. Stay with us.

a few quick finds

I’m posting a few local finds from The Apartment and some vintage pins bought at X-21 Modern in the Mission. I wish we had room for a few of these things, especially the locker. It would make for a nice place to display an awesome show collection. $1 each vintage locker, $375, The Apartment tall...

sturdy hose reel

My husband is very opinionated. Especially when it comes to products – any kind of product – from toothbrushes to space ships. Therefore, I (usually) listen when he recommends something and since it’s rare that he does, I thought I’d share it with you. After hearing me complain for many months about how much I...

a small treasure…

Ever since we bought our home a few months ago, we've been hoping for a secret stash of something. Cold hard cash would be nice a pile of human bones, not quite...
