Five years ago we bought an old house in San Francisco with a fig tree. We tore the walls down but kept the tree. Months turned into years - very cold years - but we are finally putting the house back together. Thanks for visiting.

Wall-Mounted Succulent Letter DIY

Hello there! I hope you’re staying warm wherever you may be. The US is experiencing a frigid Winter. I only feel a little bit guilty that it’s in the 60s here in San Francisco and I’ve been in the garden all week. I’m cheating a bit with the name of this project. It can only...

What a difference a few months make…

I think I’ve officially forgotten what it felt like to live in our old, neglected house. It’s transformed in such a short period of time. So long old house. You served us well. What do you think of the facade? xo

Construction images from the last few months

Hello there. Here are a few relatively recent photos of the project. In the next week or so I’ll have a much more updated post. The weather is simply gorgeous here in San Francisco (it’s not a typical Summer for us). I hope you are enjoying lovely weather wherever you may be. The pocket park...
moving quickly

moving quickly

It’s hard to believe we were sleeping in this house a month ago. The construction is moving faster than I imagined. And on that note: here’s a good post on Martha Stewart about where and how to store linens. I sometimes collect antique linen and now I know to store it...
...and we're back

…and we’re back

Hello there. We took quite a long hiatus from the blog. I’m happy to say though that last Fall (2011) we had permits issued and this week construction started again on our house. We are excited and a little scared. Please join us again for some updates on our progress and hopefully some DIY projects...

a few quick finds

I’m posting a few local finds from The Apartment and some vintage pins bought at X-21 Modern in the Mission. I wish we had room for a few of these things, especially the locker. It would make for a nice place to display an awesome show collection. $1 each vintage locker, $375, The Apartment tall...

decorating without walls

As you may have noticed there hasn't been much renovating going on at house & fig. Things are moving slowly here (believe me, we're just as disappointed as you are)...
